Hello everyone!  I am Hubert Odias and a self-made guitarist.  I’ve had other guitars in my lifetime, but this Fender Stratocaster, a 1993-Mexican made, is my best, something I nickname my baby.  For this reason, my topic for the class assignment is my Fender guitar.  I love Fender guitar models so much that I even purchased an amplifier of the same make.

Fender is a classic brand of guitar; they last long and sound good.  In my past-time, I play to enjoy myself.  Besides reading, playing guitar is one of my most preferred hobbies and the source of comfort and personal entertainment

I have chosen to write about my guitar because I’ve read a French book where it says that music is a part of an educated person’s life.  What I understand by that is that an educated person either plays some type of music or an instrument or enjoys listening to some music of choice.

Personally, I’ve done both, though being intellectually an average guy: I play and I listen to music, mostly selected Haitian and French music of the 60s and the 70s.  The music of those years brings back memories of my youth.  For the past five years, my Fender guitar has been my friend and a part of my life. I would like to end by adding that, besides my personal hobbies, philanthropy and humanitarianism are the notions I am greatly fond of and that I am calling on everyone to cherish as well.

ADRIENNE ARSHT CENTER OF MIAMI-DADE

AdrienneArt

Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts is the greatest art center in Florida.  Opened on October 5, 2006, it is second to the Lincoln Art Center of New York in architecture, elegance and quality in talent, performance and cultural exhibition of individuality.  It is located between 13th and 14th Streets and Biscayne Blvd in downtown Miami, Florida.  The center bears the name of this generous philanthropist who donated $30 million to make it financially stable.  However, the center is the property of Miami-Dade.  It is a twin art center built across from each other and linked by an overpass bridge.  They are called Ziff Ballet Opera House and Knight Center House.

This is the front view and the main entrance of the ZBOH (acronym for Ziff Ballet Opera House) center with valet service and two sets of double doors leading to artistically designed lobby.  Across from it is a huge parking lot made available as guest parking.  The distant view of the art building displays the panorama of the American art and the style of a rare English castle of the 17th century.

This fancy bridge constitutes the link between ZBOH and KCH buildings.  It is used for easy access from one building to another to avoid the risk of car accidents and traffic congestion below on Biscayne Blvd.   After the occurrence of a fist fight on the bridge, the art center management has now restricted its use only to staff members and handicapped guests.  This measure is taken to avoid liability and risks of lawsuit.  Like both art center buildings, the overpass bridge was also in operation on October 5, 2006.

This is also the front view and the main entrance to KCH (acronym for Knight Center House) with valet and information desk around the building on 14th St. entrance.  It is smaller in size, but quasi-similar in architecture, but equal in cultural importance and world-class performances.  The twin buildings were opened to the public on October 5, 2006.  Shows take place simultaneous in both buildings.  Both ZBOH and KCH have smaller showrooms to accommodate groups executing minor performances.

Brava is the famous and prestigious restaurant located on the second floor of Ziff Ballet Opera House at the Adrienne Arsht Center.  It is as famous as the art center itself.  People make reservations to eat there as they reserve for a ticket to watch a show.  It’s a classic restaurant, and it’s frequented by famous and ordinary people alike.  The location, its fame and the foods it serves make it appealing and attractive to all.   For example, the dinner menu consists of  Whipped Clam Chowder that cost only $17—Arsht Caesar $14—and Wild Mushroom Tart $15, etc.

BooksBooks
Books & Books, as the name entails, is a mini-bookstore, but a new café and store have been added to it.  It is located on the ground floor of the Adrienne Arsht Center.  It also offers an outdoor seating, table service and specialty coffee bar.  While eating on the outside, patrons can enjoy the fresh air and a view at the beautiful surrounding area.  Books & Books has an open Farmer’s Market on Wednesdays where they sell fresh fruit and all kinds of organic and agriculture products.  Some of what’s on the menu are: Cobb Salad: $16—Farmers Bowl: $13—and Rosemary Roasted Free Range Chicken: $17, etc.

This is a small part of my hometown Port-Margot, Haiti.  It is located in  the northern tip of the country, some 35 kilometers from the second largest city, Cap-Haitien.  The entire northern geographic department of Haiti is rich in history and sightseeings: Labadee, the Citadelle, Mont Joly Hotel, nice beaches, including Choo-Choo Bay and Bassin Waka, which are located in Novion, Port-Margot, and various other tourist sites.
